Archbishop Christodoulos (c) gives a blessing before a meeting of the Church of Greece’s Holy Synod at the Petraki Monastery in central Athens yesterday. The Holy Synod convened to name the new bishop of Messinia after the death of the previous bishop, Chrysostomos.
