Spate of gun, knife attacks

Police yesterday were looking into four violent attacks – one fatal – that occurred in different parts of the capital over the weekend. The death of a 28-year-old Albanian, shot in the head in the central district of Kypseli yesterday morning, was being treated by officers as a settling of accounts. Witnesses said the victim had been sitting in a parked car, arguing with someone who then shot him. The victim got out of the car but was shot again, this time in the head. The perpetrator fled. Another argument on Monday, in an apartment on central Acharnon Street, resulted in a Moldavian national stabbing a compatriot in the neck with a knife. The victim was hospitalized and the alleged perpetrator detained. There were also two shootings on Friday night. A 37-year-old man was hit in the leg by a rogue bullet fired by an unidentified gunman in the suburb of Papagou. An Albanian, shot during a dispute with compatriots in the central district of Aghios Panteleimonas, was in hospital yesterday.
