RESPONSE TO USSR: The Foreign Ministry yesterday evening released a summary of its response to an announcement by the Soviet Union regarding the signature of a Greek-US agreement on the provision of military facilities. «In the reply to the Soviet Union’s announcement regarding the agreement between Greece and the United States of America signed on October 12, the Greek government characterizes the Russian government’s objections to the agreement as being without foundation since: (…) the agreement does not upset the balance in the Balkans, but is simply a supplement to the Atlantic Treaty, which was contracted to protect the security of its members (…).» GREEK SINGER: New York, 12 – According to an announcement by the Metropolitan Opera of New York, the singer Vilma Georgiou of Thessaloniki will sing a major role in Debussy’s opera «Pelleas and Melisande» on November 27.
