Environment Day turns spotlight on forests

?Forests: Nature at Your Service,? is the motto for World Environment Day 2011, commemorated every year since 1972 on June 5. In Athens, a variety of events will be taking place in celebration of the environment on Sunday, June 5.

At the Herakleidon Museum in Thiseio, ?Every Apple, a Chat — Every Leaf, a Kiss? is a workshop for children aged 7 to 12 highlighting the importance of nature as a source of inspiration, symbolism and art. The workshop will be conducted in the museum?s educational room and participation costs 20 euros (for more information, contact Eleni Nomikou on 210.3461981, extension 201). Meanwhile, an exhibition of artworks by elementary school pupils is running at the downtown museum until June 5 and admission is free. (Herakleidon Museum, 16 Irakleidon, Thiseio)
