Kavala and Kolossos in top-four

Kavala, Kolossos and Ilisiakos scored significant away wins over the weekend, while leaders Panathinaikos and Olympiakos strolled to their ninth victories in as many games.

Panathinaikos faced AEK at Elliniko on Saturday evening and won 95-78, which amazingly is the smallest margin of victory the Greens have had so far this season in the league.

AEK made it hard for the visitors this time as the score was level at 49-49 at the start of the third period, but then Panathinaikos upped their pace and scored five three-pointers out of six from the 23rd to the 28th minute.

They had Costas Tsartsaris as their top scorer with 19 points.

Olympiakos in turn thrashed hapless Peristeri 101-64 on Sunday afternoon thanks to a tremendous first half they had at the empty Peace and Friendship Stadium, when they led 49-26.

Two sides from outside Athens and Thessaloniki, Kavala and Kolossos Rhodes share the third spot at the table with six wins and two defeats.

Kavala scored their first away win this season downing Panionios 79-73 in a tight game, while Kolossos saw off Ikaros Kallitheas at Glyfada with an 84-69 score.

Maroussi continued their surprisingly good string of performances beating visiting PAOK 81-76 on Saturday for their fifth victory to go level on points with Peristeri and Aris, who beat cross-town rivals Iraklis 94-85 at home.

Finally Ilisiakos grabbed their first win of the season defeating Panellinios 82-70 away on Sunday afternoon in the bottom-of-the-table clash.
