Reds march on as Panionios beats Panathinaikos

Olympiakos made it three out of three in the Super League, four days ahead of its Champions League opening game with Bayern Munich on Wednesday, while Panathinaikos dropped its first points at Panionios.

Guided by Chori Dominguez, Olympiakos defeated visiting Platanias Hanion 3-1 on Saturday in Piraeus and is the only team left in the league with a perfect record after three rounds of games. Dominguez scored Olympiakos’s second goal, after that of Jimmy Durmaz and before that of Arthur Masuaku, while Platanias pulled one back via Yaya Banana.

English goalkeeper Luke Steele produced a howler that let in Tasos Bakasetas's direct freekick as Panionios saw off Panathinaikos 1-0 at Nea Smyrni on Sunday.

AEK is second, two points behind Olympiakos, after downing visiting PAS Giannina 3-1 courtesy of a brace by former River Plate star Diego Buonanotte and a goal by Ronald Vargas, after Noe Acosta had given PAS an early lead.

Xanthi made the most of its few chances to emerge victorious with a 1-0 score from its match at Atromitos, while PAOK scored its first win in the league this season thrashing Veria 3-0 away on Dimitar Berbatov’s debut with the Thessaloniki club.

In other games Panetolikos beat Panthrakikos 1-0 and Kalloni produced a late equalizer to hold Asteras Tripolis to a 1-1 draw at Mytilini.

On Monday Iraklis hosts Levadiakos.
