AEK wins at Ioannina while PAO stumbles with Panionios
AEK is increasingly looking good for finishing second in the regular season of the Super League, after a convincing win at PAS Giannina on Sunday, while Panathinaikos drew with Panionios and PAOK struggled to beat Veria at home.
Goals by Roland Vargas and Helder Barbosa gave AEK a significant 2-0 victory at Ioannina to stay above Panathinaikos and PAOK, but always well behind runaway leader Olympiakos, that is visiting Platanias on Monday.
Panionios keeper Sokratis Dioudis virtually single-handedly held Panathinaikos to a goalless draw away from home, as the Greens played out their second game without scoring at home behind closed doors in four days.
PAOK beat Veria 2-1 through a Dimitar Berbatov penalty kick and a Stefanos Athanasiadis goal after Radoslaw Majewski had equalized for the visitors.
Xanthi and Atromitos played out a very entertaining 2-2 draw in Thrace, while neighboring Panthrakikos failed to beat 10-man Panetolikos at home (0-0) and is in deep relegation trouble.
Even worse is the situation of Kalloni Lesvou, that is rock bottom and lost 3-1 at Asteras Tripolis despite taking a first-half lead.
