At last a win for Greece

Greek volleyball at last found something to cheer about in this World Championship in Japan, as the men’s team recorded a 3-1 win over lowly Australia in its last match in the tournament. The Greek side stormed into the first couple of sets, winning them 25-20 and 25-22. The Australians earned their third set (25-22) in the tournament as they bolstered their defense and went on to lead into the fourth, only for Greece to come back from 19-21 and win it 25-23. Defiant coach Costas Haritonidis, who still enjoys the federation’s support, said, «The team fills me with optimism for the future, as it has had so many new faces.»
