PAO and Aris score Euro wins

European champions Panathinaikos, which went into last night’s Euroleague first-stage Group C game as the basketball competition’s only undefeated team, thrashed Turkish host Fenerbahce with a score of 63-84. Later last night, Olympi-akos, one win off top spot in Group A, was at home to Zalgiris. In another Greek-Turkish encounter played late Wednesday night, Aris held on for a 67-64 win against Efes Pilsen. The victory gives the Thessaloniki team a share of second place in Group B of the Euroleague’s opening stage. Aris and Lietuvos Rytas are tied with 4-2 records. Unicaja leads Group B with five wins and a loss.
