Brazilian star for Iraklis

Volleyball champion Iraklis Thessaloniki has completed its roster of five foreign players with the acquisition of Brazilian outside hitter Denison Conceicao. The 29-year-old was the personal choice of new coach Costas Arseniadis, who had an excellent relationship with him in the past when they were both at Kifissia, the surprise package of the previous season. In his first statements as an Iraklis player, Conceicao expressed his enthusiasm with his transfer to a team that wins titles and plays in the Champions League: «I have come to the best team of the Greek league. I hope I get to help it achieve its targets in the new season in the same way I did last year with Kifissia,» he said. This will be the second season he will play at the Champions League, after 2007 when he took part with German club Evivo Dueren. «Our first target is winning the league, as Iraklis has done in the last two years. Then we want to have a great presence in Europe,» he stated. Iraklis has four other non-Greek players, Plamen Konstandinov, Simon Tischer, Cleh Akhrem and Marcus Nilsson.
