Iraklis loss puts Greens at the top of the volleyball league

Panathinaikos has moved alone to the top of the volleyball league after a surprise thrashing of Iraklis by EA Patras on Friday. The Peloponnesian side downed Iraklis 3-0 at home to move to the third spot and level with its beaten opponent. Panathinaikos dropped a point at home to Aris but its 3-2 win, also on Friday, has sent it to the top of the table, one point ahead of Olympiakos and two ahead of Iraklis and EA Patras. However, the injury sustained by Panathinaikos opposite Liberman Agamez has overshadowed the Greens’ win. Olympiakos braved a strong AEK and won 3-1 away on Saturday evening in a game that proved closer than had been anticipated. In the other games on Saturday, Panellinios scored a 3-2 away win at PAOK to move up to sixth place, as Apollon Kalamarias took all three points from its home game against bottom side Foinikas Syrou. Today Lamia is hosting lowly Kifissia.
