Volleyball giants feeling the pinch

The volleyball league will be seeing a full round of games tonight, but the financial problems that are dogging Olympiakos and Panathinaikos have overshadowed the action on the court. Champion Olympiakos has yet to register a win after three games and is also without a governing board, with players being owed significant amounts of money. The Reds travel to Kifissia tonight. «We will try to improve the picture we present,» said Olympiakos’s Pavlos Kouzounis. Players at league leader Panathinaikos sat out Monday’s and yesterday’s training sessions before tonight’s home game against Epikouros Polichnis, as they are also owed money. «All we hear are promises and see no action. We have obligations and they must guarantee us that we will get our money,» one player said. Tonight’s other games are Iraklis vs Apollon Kalamarias, Ethnikos vs EA Patras, Lamia vs Panellinios and the Thessaloniki derby between PAOK vs Aris.
