The Murderess | Athens | April 20

The Athens Concert Hall presents a performance of Giorgos Koumendakis’s “The Murderess,” a two-act opera based on the novel of the same name by Alexandros Papadiamantis (1851-1911) and a libretto by Yiannis Svolos, on Wednesday, April 20. The opera tells the story of a healer in early 20th century rural Greece who strangles her granddaughter in what appears to be a kind of mercy killing. The cast is led by Irini Tsirakidou, Julia Souglakou, Elena Kelesidi, Georgia Eliopoulos and Tassos Apostolou. The performance starts at 8 p.m.
