Greek court to issue decision on Vgenopoulos account

TAGS: Taxation

The Council of State is to decide on whether the Greek state can confiscate 13 million euros from a joint account in the names of Andreas Vgenopoulos, the chairman of Marfin Investment Group (MIG), and Efthymios Bouloutas, a former board member of the now defunct Laiki Bank.

The former had appealed to the Athens Court of First Instance after tax authorities sought to seize 13 million euros from the account.

The court proposed that the confiscation be suspended until the Council of State, the country’s highest administrative court, rules on the issue.
