Behind the scenes

The spotlight inevitably fell on Dimitris Papaioannou and Angelos Mendis, but we all know that they did not work alone. They were flanked by a huge group of artists who worked non-stop by their side. Most were close associates or even good friends of Papaioannou, a fact that made us allude to the triumph of the 40-something generation. The music was the responsibility of Giorgos Koumendakis, a permanent associate of Papaioannou’s dance company. For the sets, the responsibility lay with set designer and architect Lilly Pezanou, while the choreography was by Angeliki Stellatou. Sofia Kokosalaki’s star shone with her costumes, while Eleni Manolopoulou did outstanding work on the overall costume design and for the stage design of the «Clepsydra» sequence. Another hand that went into «Clepsydra» was that of Maria Ilia, who was in charge of painting the sets and costumes. Athina Tsangari was in charge of the video projections, while Eleftheria Deco was behind the lights. Last, but not least, the texts of the narrative were written by songwriter Lina Nikolakopoulou. Let us also not forget the thousands of volunteers who turned out to make the Games the success they were.
