Finding the bouquet of beauty in the garbage

A bouquet made of bottle tops marks the first individual exhibition of Giorgos Vorres-Fildisis, director of the Vorres Museum in Paeania. Today is the last day of the exhibition at the Nea Makri municipality’s Vassilis Rotas Cultural Center. The artist crafts fine objects from trash, and believes that «trash is worth a second chance before it ends up on the streets.» The work of self-taught Vorres-Fildisis already adorns many shop windows, houses and offices, because it speaks directly and with humor to the keen consumers of today. A wing of the Vorres Museum in Paeania has a permanent display of some of his most representative work. Soccer pools organization OPAP was another victim of the State’s privatization plans, tumbling 6.31 percent to 7.72 euros after the government said it will sell more off next month.
