Two arrested in Peloponnese for stealing copper

Two young men aged 18 and 20, respectively, are believed to have netted at least €18,000 in three days from selling copper wire on the illegal metals market in the southeastern Peloponnese.

The suspects were arrested in the town of Sparta on Friday on suspicion of breaking into eight irrigation pumping stations and one greenhouse at local farms and stripping them of their copper wiring.
