Mother charged with death of children given until Nov. 25 to prepare defense

A 33-year-old woman accused of killing her three children in 2019 and 2021 was given a new deadline until November 25 to testify before an investigative magistrate.

Prosecutors investigating the case say Roula Pispirigou is responsible for the deaths of 3-year-old daughter Malena, 6-month-old Iris, as well as 9-year-old Georgina. The mother is already in pre-trial detention over the killing of Georgina.

Pispirigou appeared before an investigative magistrate on Wednesday to defend herself over the homicide charge relating to Malena and Iris, and asked for more time due to her lawyer’s conflicting work load.

The the 33-year-old was arrested in March after an anesthetic drug was found in tissue Georgina’s samples who died in January following a lengthy stay in the hospital. Malena died from liver failure in 2019 and Iris in 2021 from a suspected heart defect.
