Suspended jail sentence imposed on man who hit two women 

A 47-year-old man from the city of Volos in central Greece was handed a 29-month suspended jail sentence and ordered to pay a fine of 1,200 euros for hitting two women who tried to help his wife while he was beating her.

The court found the defendant guilty of causing dangerous bodily harm against the two women (mother and daughter), repeatedly threatening and insulting the victims, as well as dangerous driving and drink driving. The judge also suspended the man’s driving license for three months.

According to the case file, the incident took place at the Volos port parking lot over the long weekend of October 28. Two women, a 65-year-old mother and her daughter, heard loud noises coming from the suspect’s car and saw him insulting and then hitting his wife in the face with his fists. When they ran over to help the woman, they were also attacked and hit in the face.
