Reporters Without Borders hail Karaivaz arrests

Reporters Without Borders hailed the arrests of two men in connection to the 2021 murder of Greek journalist Giorgios Karaivaz with a statement released on social media on Saturday. Citing an article from Kathimerini English Edition, the international body called for the apprehension of all those involved in the case.

“RSF [Reporters Without Borders] welcomes the arrest on Friday of 2 men suspected of involvement in the 2021 killing of journalist Giorgos Karaivaz, which marks a progress in the investigation. All those responsible for the crime including the mastermind must be apprehended,” said the organization.

Karaivaz was murdered outside his home, in the coastal Athens suburb of Alimos, as he returned from work in April 2021. An experienced crime reporter, Karaivaz had private and professional connections in the Greek underworld and among corrupt police officers connected to it.
