Fire brigade receives 10,495 emergency calls in Thessaly

A total of 10,495 calls due to Storm Elias were received by the Fire Brigade’s operations center in Thessaly, central Greece, from Tuesday morning until 6 p.m. on Thursday.

The fire brigade also carried out 3,778 floodwater pumpings and transported 3,579 people to safe locations.

In addition, in the region of Magnesia, which includes the twice in less than a month flooded city of Volos, firefighters received a total of 1,520 calls from Wednesday morning to 6 p.m. on Thursday, carrying out 170 floodwater pumpings and transporting 280 people to safe spots.

In other regions affected by adverse weather, the fire brigade also received a number of calls; however, the most recorded were in central Greece. [AMNA]
