Civil servants’ union calls rally, stoppages

The civil servants? union, ADEDY, is to stage a protest rally in central Athens on Wednesday to protest the government?s plans for a so-called ?labor reserve scheme? which opposition parties have condemned as a backdoor way to layoffs.

The rally is to start at 1 p.m. in central Klafthmonos Square. ADEDY also called a three-hour work stoppage for Thursday, starting from 12.30 p.m., and a 24-hour strike for October 6, noting that the date of the strike might change.
