Parties rapped over campaign posters
Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis appealed to political parties on Tuesday to stop putting up illegal campaign posters on streetlights and trees in the city.
All parties had agreed before the May elections not to flypost campaign material but it was revealed that municipal employees have taken down more than 10,000 posters.
?I appeal to political parties so that we all play our part in ensuring that we do not damage Athens?s image any further,? said Kaminis. ?The working hours lost by sanitation units will not be made up easily. Over the last 10 days, four teams have been working eight-hour shifts to clean lampposts and other areas of illegal posters. Every day, 75 sanitation workers spend their time removing these posters.?
