Twenty Bangladeshi strawberry pickers shot in Peloponnese after row with farmers over unpaid wages
Twenty strawberry pickers were shot and slightly injured in the Peloponnese yesterday after an altercation with their supervisors.
The incident occurred after some 200 strawberry pickers, from Bangladesh, demanded six months’ worth of unpaid wages from their employer.
The pickers, working in New Manolada, Ilia, became involved in an argument with three Greek supervisors, one of whom fired at the migrants with a shotgun.
The injured were taken to the hospital. None of them were wounded seriously.
