ERT workers’ proposal to launch new service denied
Deputy Culture Minister Pantelis Kapsis on Friday rejected a proposal from the employees of former public broadcaster ERT for them to take on the job of providing the new TV and radio service the government wants.
The ERT workers proposed that they launch the new service, minus any employees that want to retire, rather than the government setting up a new broadcaster, NERIT.
“We cannot accept the employees’ proposal,” said Kapsis.
“Accepting it would nullify the political decision already taken and the commitment toward the troika.”
