Street vendors lob rocks at police during inspection
An attempt by police to carry out an inspection on street vendors touting their wares outside the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) on central Patission Street on Friday prompted the migrants to take refuge on the grounds of the university and pelt police with stones and other objects.
Police withdrew from the area to stop tensions escalating but officers remained on standby.
