Five Athens cabbies nabbed for rigging meters, carrying weapons

Five taxi drivers were arrested on Wednesday in Athens for tampering with their meters and carrying weapons.

The cabbies were caught while waiting to collect passengers at the Kifissos KTEL intercity bus station.

One cabbie had attached a wire to his meter that prevented it from issuing receipts, three of the drivers were found to be carrying knives and one had a can of pepper spray, while there were outstanding warrants for the arrest of the fifth driver.
