Secondary school teachers to meet with minister after all

Representatives of the secondary school teachers’ union (OLME) are to meet Education Minister Constantinos Arvanitopoulos on October 10, it was announced Wednesday.

OLME and the ministry have been at loggerheads over the past few weeks due to the union opposing government plans to transfer dozens of teachers to other parts of the civil service.

Arvanitopoulos refused to meet with union officials Wednesday, when teachers protested outside the ministry.

OLME also criticized Arvanitopoulos for canceling a decision that would have allowed public schools to appoint a second IT teacher if the number of pupils in a class exceeds 22.
