Man arrested over car rental scam in Patra
Police in Patra, western Greece, arrested a 36-year-old man over the weekend on charges he used forged documents from Slovakia and Cyprus to rent out luxury cars which he then sold. He was detained on Saturday, after being found in possession of fake documents and small quantity of heroin.
An investigation revealed that he rented and then sold three luxury cars in June and July from rental stores in Athens, Myconos and Rhodes.
The total value of the three stolen cars was estimated at 122,000 euros. The suspect also had a criminal record involving attempted murder and illegal gun possession.
