France deprives Greece of a Eurobasket medal

France prevented Greece from reaching the European Basketball Championship semifinals in Lithuania on Thursday night.

The Greeks still eye a top-six spot that will see them make the Olympic qualification tournament of next July.

The quarterfinal finished 64-56 in favor of the French who were stronger than Greece in the final quarter of the game.

Greece had looked capable of grabbing a place in the semifinals during the first three periods, establishing leads at various points through the game.

Yiannis Bourousis led the scoring for the Greeks with 17 but Ilias Zouros?s team was let down by poor 3-point shooting, with an accuracy of just over 20 percent.

Tony Parker was France?s top scorer with 18 points.
