Power suppliers asking PM for support

Soaring electricity bills are putting more and more consumers in the red, with arrears and settlement requests piling up.

Power suppliers, for their part, are facing the trebled cost of electricity and increased debts from their customers, sinking the electricity retail market deep into debt.

Apart from the four large providers, the rest of the companies have accumulated debts of 100 million euros to grid operator ADMIE alone.

In a letter to the prime minister, providers are asking for support measures and the right to pay the grid operator relative to what they receive and a repayment period similar to what they offer their customers.
