Retail price of coffee expected to rise by 5-15%

Given the continued refusal of the economic staff to abolish or even reduce the Single Consumption Tax and given the large increase in international coffee prices, price rises of 5-15% in the coming period are considered inevitable.

The president of the Hellenic Coffee Association, Tasos Giagkoglou, noted on Thursday during a press event that the price of Robusta and Arabica coffee varieties have increased by 60% and 30% respectively compared to last year.

It is estimated that 10-15% of the total coffee quantity in Greece is illegal, which also translates into a loss of revenue for those businesses that operate legally.
