The palace on the hill

Several indications suggested its existence, but after the recent excavations on Castelli Hill in the Old Town of Hania it is now almost certain that the hill was a palatial center of the 13-14th centuries BC that may have been the most important in western Crete. The movable finds also include a “treasure trove” of 33 silver coins from the Classical period.
