Intercity train from Athens to Thessaloniki experiences power outage, passengers left stranded

An Intercity train traveling from Athens to Thessaloniki on Sunday experienced a power outage, causing it to come to a sudden stop just outside the city of Larissa in central Greece.

The incident caused unrest among the passengers as the lights went out.

According to ertnews.gr, after several hours of waiting, the crew informed passengers that the issue was caused by a problem with the power supply network of OSE.

Passengers reported that there was no plan communicated to them about what to do next or how they would reach their destination.

Eventually, the passengers arrived in Thessaloniki, but with a significant delay.

Greece last month reopened some passenger and freight rail routes that had been halted since a passenger and a cargo train carrying more than 350 people collided head-on on February 28 on the same track near, killing 57 people.
