Prosecutor questions suspects over beach drug haul
Two men, aged 32 and 51, arrested on Thursday in connection with a huge drug haul on a beach near the port of Kyllini, in the Peloponnese, faced a prosecutor in Amaliada Friday on drug smuggling charges. Police found 832 kilograms of cannabis in 56 packages on the beach.
According to officers, the 32-year-old brought the drugs ashore with the help of two Albanian nationals while the 51-year-old is said to have been observing the drop-off from a distance.
They fled the area after realizing they had been spotted but were arrested later on Thursday.
