Ioannina joins list of Greek universities closing doors
The senate of Ioannina University decided on Wednesday to suspend all administrative and teaching activities until Monday following the induction of 1,349 administrative staff from eight universities into a troika-imposed mobility scheme.
The university is planning legal action over the initiative, which involves forced transfers and layoffs.
Several other institutions have suspended their activities for the same reason, including Athens University, the Athens University of Economic and Business, Thessaloniki’s Aristotle University and the pedagogical faculty of the University of Thessaly.
