Samos man gets 4-year suspended sentence for accidentally starting fire
A man on Samos received a suspended four-year prison sentence for inadvertent arson that destroyed large tracts of forestland on the island on July 8.
The 46-year-old, who accidentally started the fire while welding, was also fined 3,000 euros.
His son, who also stood trial on the same charge, was found innocent.
The defendant claimed he was innocent, saying he had finished his work before the fire started.
