Extreme weather hits the Cyclades

An extreme weather front has hit the Cyclades islands in the Aegean and has caused serious disruptions for their inhabitants on Thursday. The island of Santorini was hit by a hailstorm, threatening the operation of the local airport.

The local municipal authorities had been on alert since Thursday morning and crews have been working tirelessly to keep flooded streets traversable and ensure that the airport can function without any issues.
