Migrant trafficker cases expedited in Greece

Amid an increase in migrant flows, a deputy Supreme Court prosecutor with exclusive responsibility for migration and monitoring cases of migrant traffickers in a systematic manner will be appointed to expedite judicial processes.

Up until now, the adjudication of cases sent by the coast guard are often delayed and passed through different prosecutors, making the process even slower.

As a result, many cases stagnate and traffickers go unpunished, perpetuating the situation.
