Country to launch mini-satellites the size of a washing machine
The first organized effort of the Greek state in space technology is now a reality. Greece will build a significant number of small satellites, each as big as a washing machine, and the countdown to their deployment has already started.
A decisive role in the construction of the cubesats will be played by an ecosystem of Greek companies, which in recent years, starting in 2004 – when space technology took its first steps in Greece – have been growing quietly.
Nowadays there are more than 50 companies that make up the Greek space industry.
European authorities say the Greek-made cubesats will have to be constructed by end-2026 or early 2027 at the latest.
