Flares land fans in trouble

Police have opened a case file against 19 people on charges they illegally set off flares, fireworks and smoke grenades during soccer matches at the Toumba and Charilaou stadiums of PAOK and Aris respectively in Thessaloniki, northern Greece. 

The defendants, aged 19 to 44, were identified from footage filmed by the security cameras at the stadiums. 

According to the police investigation, 17 of them allegedly carried out the above actions in October 2022 at the Charilaou Ground, and the other two in January 2023 at the Toumba Stadium.

The relevant files will be submitted to the competent judicial authorities.
