Greek soccer player’s alleged doping incident prompts UEFA investigation

Following an alleged positive doping sample from a Greek soccer player after a match against Georgia in Tbilisi, UEFA and the International Testing Agency (ITA) have initiated an investigation. The Hellenic Soccer Federation (EPO) and the National Anti-Doping Agency (EOKAN) are currently awaiting official updates.


200 hardcore hooligans to be investigated by the Supreme Court

Citizen Protection Minister Yannis Oikonomou and Deputy Minister of Sports Giannis Vroutsis submitted a comprehensive catalog containing approximately 200 names of hooligans active across all sports teams on a national scale to Prosecutor Georgia Adelini of the Supreme Court on Tuesday. 

Man arrested in relation to soccer fan’s death

Police have arrested a man, an AEK fan, and are continuing to investigate his possible involvement in the stabbing of football fan Michalis Katsouris in August. Katsouris, 29, was fatally stabbed by unknown persons during a clash between rival football hooligans.



Two Scottish soccer fans sentenced by Greek court

Two Scottish supporters of Hearts soccer club were sentenced on Monday to an eight-month jail term. The two Hearts supporters were arrested by Greek police after trying to enter the Toumba stadium in Thessaloniki with flares, where Hearts played against PAOK to qualify for the UEFA Europa League.




Irish fans complain of ‘shambolic’ organization at Greek game

Irish fans attending the Euro 2024 qualifying game at the OPAP Arena in Athens on Friday have taken to social media to complain about the “shambolic and dangerous” organization at the match after they were stranded outside the stadium after kick-off after an apparent issue with the turnstile gates.
