Soccer fans held in custody in Rhodes

Twenty-five soccer fans from the western Peloponnese port city of Patras faced a magistrate on the southeastern Aegean island of Rhodes on Monday over clashes at a match the previous day.

Clashes break out after student rally in central Athens

The Greek police fired tear gas and flashbang grenades against a group of approximately 30 hooded youths who were throwing petrol bombs and setting fire to garbage containers following a student rally in central Athens on Thursday. One policeman sustained minor injuries during the clashes.

Two arrested for cigarette smuggling

Two suspects, identified as Pakistani nationals, were arrested in a downtown Athens minimarket for breaching customs laws on Tuesday morning after large quantities of unlicensed tobacco products were found in the store.
